I passed the PE today. Having the ability to work through the problems alongside Dan in his courses improved my efficiency studying and allowed me to avoid falling into rabbit holes and focus on material that was beneficial on exam day. I booked my PE Exam 16 weeks ago and for the first month I was studying using the MERM. I did not feel like I was making the progress required to pass the PE so I decided to buy Dan's course. I worked through every course module and the come test day I moved through the material with ease. If you are serious about taking and passing the PE exam I highly recommend this course.
Before I get to reviewing Dan's program, a little background. I graduated from college in May 2009 and took the FE in the following June. I succeeded in passing FE on the first try. I also graduated with a GPA upwards of 3.5 in an ABET accredited Mechanical Engineering program. I then went to work as an engineer in an industry unrelated to HVAC/R for 5 years. Then I moved onto a new career path in Energy Engineering with a focus towards HVAC improvements. It took another 7 years before I had acquired sufficient experience to be eligible to sit for the PE. During those 7 years I acquired a Master of Science degree in a multidisciplinary engineering program oriented towards Clean Energy and Energy Efficiency, the AEE CEM certification, and LEED AP BD+C accreditation. My point being, that by the time I was eligible for the PE I was fairly removed from rigorous engineering calculations on a daily basis despite having a few instances to partially refinish those technical skills leading up to the PE. Make sure to assess how technically adept you are once eligible for PE licensure. If you've been removed from rigorous HVAC calculations for an extended time you may benefit from a more instructionally heavy program. That said, I also did not have the benefit of functioning as an EIT in a design oriented role for the entire requisite experience time hence I was not as technically adept as an EIT from a consulting firm would be. In light of that technical removal from rigorous engineering application, I thought it absolutely necessary to seek out an organized study approach. A coworker of mine was already in the process of working through Dan's program and had provided the recommendation to check it. I was vetting Dan's program against PPI's and a few others. I chose Dan's program because it had a very intuitive path of pregressive preparation, was very problem solving oriented, provided extensive video content, and had a very attractive pricepoint for what was offered. If you are looking for a program that provides a deep dive accelerated crash course instructional review of mechanical engineering topics related to HVAC/R this is not the right program for you. Dan has created a very engaging program that puts the onus on you to practice and learn what you don't already and provides the additional support needed to successfully work through challenging problems. Hence instruction occurs on a problem by problem basis. There are a couple of modules that provide a crash course on things like Thermodynamics, Fluids, and HVAC but they do require a basic functioning level of retained knowledge to grasp and to be of value. I applaud Dan for not creating a passive preparatory program. With that said, there is currently an unfavorable weight of preference in Dan's solutions to refer to the MERM rather than the NCEES Handbook, but that is because most of the content was created before CBT tests were the mandatory norm. Dan has stated that he will replace videos as needed to better reflect the NCEES Handbook and replace problems that are incompatible with the NCEES Handbook. With that all said, Dan has an excellent preparatory program, and remember that between the bundled program and the videos on his Youtube channel you will have access to several hundred problems complete with walkthrough solutions which should be plenty for most to be prepared for the exam. I also strongly encourage participants to take advantage of the office hours, Dan want's nothing more than for you to succeed and will patiently walk through troublesome problems. I worked through Dan's program over the course of 4.5 months allowing myself 8-12hrs of study time each week. I successfully passed the PE exam on Feb 13th, 2021 and no doubt would have struggled immensely without Dan's guidance. Thanks to Dan's program I cruised through the test at a very comfortable pace and even finished with an entire hour to spare. I should mention, and Dan does as well, this program is not designed to make you master the PE exam or ace the PE exam. It also does not cover all of the material that may be present on the PE exam. It does, however, address the bulk majority of questions you are likely to face such that you could likely miss the questions that Dan's program does not address (i.e. Fuels, Controls, Code, etc) on the test and still pass. This program was thus excellent value for money, I would have overspent going with another program. I cannot stress enough, that Dan's ongoing support and availability through the program are a huge differentiator and provide tremendous value. As the other reviews indicate, Dan is a superb teacher and is able to teach very arcane concepts will seamless ease; that is a rare talent. Thank you Dan for such a great program!
I passed the HVAC PE exam on 12/22/2021. Dan has been a huge part of my success. His lectures are truly amazing. Everything I learned from his lectures, every little concept and trick, helped me pass the PE Exam. Dan simplified the most difficult problems in the easiest way possible. As students, this is something that we all seek in our mentor. Dan's work is phenomenal. I definitely recommend his courses to anyone who is trying to pass the HVAC PE Exam.
Dan, thank you for helping me pass the HVAC PE Exam. You are the BEST!!!
I am very happy that I found out that I passed my PE today.
I was a hard case consisted of four previous failed exam try’s. I learned about Dan’s program through a coworker. I think this was the best money spent on a PE course ever.
Dan is a natural teacher and his ability to transfer knowledge is unmatched. You only get a handful of these kind of teachers in your life. The program is very well constructed with gradual addition of knowledge from all topics needed, so by the end problems become a good mix of all topics.
Also the level of difficulty is exactly what you’ll need when the time comes, you train hard so when the time comes for a match it goes like a breeze.
I will always be thankful for this course. Dan simplified it, took the mystery (and misery) out of it so it’s easy to chew.
I will gladly recommend it to anyone who is getting ready for PE, it’s worth more than what’s it’s price is.
Thank you Dan.
This course is thorough and gives you a solid foundation on the main 6 topics covered in the HVACR PE exam. Dan has taken the time to comb through each topic and present you with the information you need to know! It gives you the freedom to work at your own pace which I enjoyed. The resources you need to pass the PE are available to you. My favorite resources were the explanation videos, practice exams, and office hours. These allowed me to re-work, ask questions, and learn more efficient processes in areas where I wasn't as strong. The investment is worth it!
Really Great!!!! I passed my HVAC PE by only referring to Dan's Mechanical PE Exam prep. Worth to spend.
For some time I watched Dan's videos on YouTube and I really enjoyed his teaching methodology. The fact that he takes the time to explain in very detail each problem starting by concepts implementation, is paramount to accomplish the main objective.
I didn't want to wait any longer and enrolled in HVAC Bundle which has a great format by starting with a high overview of principles and fundamentals, then diving deep and deeper into the six main categories of HVAC and Refrigeration. The fact that the course is foundational provides an excellent step-by-step structure to embark into this journey.
Dan's responses to questions is great and right to the point.
No doubt that the money that you put into this course is by all means a great investment. Thank you Dan!
I recommend this course for any mechanical engineer because it’s overall and easy. Just set and watch.
I finished and passed the PE exam on 7hr.
Dan, I appreciate your support and I respect your experience and knowledge.
This is hands down the best prep course out today (and it's not even close) that truly teaches you how to think like a PE when solving problems. The value is SIGNIFICANTLY greater than the cost. Dan Molloy has a real gift with delivery and instilling confidence into his students. His availability is also something that provides a personal touch to the program. Have trouble not knowing where to start for your PE preparation? This course is for you.
I first got to know Dan through his YouTube videos. After watching a couple of his videos I realized that my method of studying needed a bit of coaching and organization. I decided to purchase his tutorías and practice test for the HVAC and Refrigeration test. I probably watched each of his videos 2-3 times, in conjunction with reading the MERM book as I went along, I was able to past the PE test on the first time.
His tutorials were definitely a major role in my success. It helped me have plan and clear view of how to about studying for this test and not to get sidetracked or overwhelmed on the amount of material that needed to be understood.
I highly recommend him to anyone that wants to move forward in their career by succeeding on passing the PE test.
